Hi,
welcome to the monthly free-for-all edition of The Manifestor Manual.
Today, I’m sharing a book with you I’ve found genuinely helpful for Manifestors. Consider it part 1 of the Manifestor Book Club, that will run in loose succession.
The Gift of Not Belonging by Rami Kaminski
In “The Gift of not Belonging - How Outsiders Thrive in a World of Joiners”, psychologist Rami Kaminski introduces the otrovert, a new personality type that sounds a lot like a Manifestor.
Unlike introverts and extroverts who live in relation to others (introverts need space to recharge and extroverts are energised by company, but it’s always about the other), otroverts are very self-contained.
As per Kaminski:
“Were you the kid who never wanted to join after school clubs or go to sleepaway camp? Do you loathe parties but love spending time with close friends one-on-one? Are you allergic to teamwork but thrive creatively and professionally when working alone? Do you struggle to fit in? If so, you are likely an otrovert.”
When I first saw this, it sounded like a non-holistic way to describe a Manifestor: a self-contained being in a world that values joiner-inners. It’s the 91%-9% split in Human Design (the other types vs. Manis) in a different costume.
The book is a great resource. I enjoyed the case-studies and stories in it. If you’re struggling with the different-ness of being a Manifestor at any moment, “The Gift of Not Belonging” is a very validating book.
